ENUGU STATE — The Pioneer Batch (Cohort 1) of the Enugu Anchor Greenhouse Cluster (EAGC) Program successfully established the foundation for modern, climate-smart agriculture in the region. This intensive training experience combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical exercises to ensure that young women, youth, and persons with disabilities were fully equipped to transition from subsistence farming into high-yield commercial agribusiness.

Throughout the bootcamp, participants were exposed to modern agronomic practices, cooperative business models, and the technical aspects of setting up and operating climate-controlled greenhouse environments.

Expert Instruction and Capacity Building

Led by seasoned experts in agriculture and engineering, the classroom sessions provided the strategic framework needed for sustainable farming. However, the core of the bootcamp experience was rooted in the field, ensuring that every participant walked away with practical, deployable skills.

Hands-on Greenhouse Field Operations

To prepare the farmers for cooperative ownership, the curriculum mandated active participation in actual farming tasks inside completed greenhouse structures.

Infrastructure Building & Fabrication

Beyond crop management, the EAGC program emphasized technical self-reliance. Participants engaged directly in the mechanical fabrication and structural assembly of the greenhouses, learning about the galvanized framing and micro-climate control systems.
