ENUGU STATE — In a powerful demonstration of the Enugu State Government's commitment to agricultural transformation, His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, attended a landmark agricultural empowerment program organized by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Enugu State, Dr. Patrick Ubru.

During the event, the Governor warmly greeted the EAGC project team and cooperative representatives from the Enugu State Energizing Women and Youths in Agri-Food Systems Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society, personally presenting essential farming equipment, high-quality inputs, and agricultural goods to support and strengthen the cooperatives' farming operations.

🎁 What the Cooperatives Received

1. Farming Equipment: Essential tools and machinery to support efficient farm operations and improve productivity across cooperative farms.
2. Agricultural Inputs: High-yield seeds, fertilizers, and crop protection inputs to enhance harvest quality and maximize yields.
3. Agricultural Goods: Additional support materials and resources to help cooperatives sustain operations through the early production cycles.

Strengthening the Path to Cooperative Ownership

This state-led empowerment initiative is strategically timed to complement the EAGC's ongoing construction of the 150 greenhouses at Owo and the pilot phase 15 climate-smart greenhouses at Ugwuomu Nike. By equipping the cooperatives with vital agricultural tools and inputs ahead of the greenhouses' completion, the state government is ensuring that local farmers are fully prepared and operationally ready to take ownership and begin commercial production.

The Governor's attendance and hands-on participation underscores the executive-level backing behind the EAGC initiative and the broader vision of making Enugu State a leading hub for climate-smart agriculture and youth-driven agribusiness in South-East Nigeria.

“This kind of direct government support — putting tools and resources in the hands of farmers — is exactly what transforms agricultural ambition into tangible, sustainable livelihoods for our cooperative members.”

— EAGC Project Team

With the cooperatives now better equipped and the greenhouse cluster nearing completion, the stage is set for a new chapter in Enugu's agricultural transformation — one where trained local farmers own, operate, and profit from modern, climate-controlled farming infrastructure.
